Sad news: Dick Trickle has died
Dick Trickle, the NASCAR racer who Dan and Keith loved to include on ESPN’s SportsCenter has sadly died.
Awful news: Dick Trickle is dead j.mp/19A9yUg No sports figure Dan + I had fun with took it more graciously. In fact, gratefully.

The late Dick Trickle helped mainstream NASCAR coverage on @sportscenter We gave prominent attention to him, then his races, then ALL races

Here is an interview with Keith about him in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
“…Keith Olbermann — with Dan Patrick, one half of a classic ESPN anchor duo – shared his recollections Thursday of the sophomoric running gag on their network that helped make Trickle’s name familiar even in houses where no one paid any attention to racing….”
It’s official: Keith has no Yankees season tickets anymore

Happy third Twitter Birthday Keith!
Though Keith’s account was created three years ago yesterday, he send his first tweet on 4/8/2010 during his show with the help of John Hodgman ( @hodgman )
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63PiQ7tNAcc%5D
(original Keith’s joins Twitter )
(The tweets might show “April 9″ when you view them but that’s because Twitter includes timezone differences in the code, they’re all from April 8)
Keith’s first tweet (send 4/8/2010 8:58 pm ET):
I give up. I was wrong. Young and foolish. Now my twitter-cot belongs to the ages. Behold: I tweet.
— Keith Olbermann (@KeithOlbermann) April 8, 2010
And for the curious, his second tweet
:
So NOW I get it. I say hi and 7500 people shout HI and my eardrum bursts and I’m up all night reading and I have no chance to cure egomania?
— Keith Olbermann (@KeithOlbermann) April 8, 2010
And here is what John Hodgman tweeted:
I am on Olbermann right now. He is @keitholbermann and already has seven followers and is scared.
— hodgman (@hodgman) April 8, 2010
Keith has now 438 250 followers and 33 655 tweets. Since baseball has started again he’s mostly tweeting about that. Go ahead and ask him questions about it.
Keith at the MLB Opening Day and his AL predictions (updated)
Update: Keith has concluded his predictions
——
Keith was at the Yankees vs. Redsox opener on Monday 4/1 and some tweeted screenshots of him but first his AL predictions
- 2013 Previews. AL Central: Royally Flushed
- 2013 Previews. A.L. West: But Who Can Pitch?
- 2013 Previews. AL East: The Yankees Muddlers Row.
Now to the pics (owned by those who tweeted them, MLB and YES):
Keith appears to be sitting in or near his old seats behind home plate. On one hand he said he would cancel his Yankees season tickets, on the other hand he clearly has a bandage on his wrist, which might indicate him still being one.
I have no idea who he was sitting with but it seems he entertained two women. Unless his niece Eve has grown very fast, I’d say these are friends.
MLB Opening Night and Keith’s predictions
(Opening Day is tomorrow, April 1st)
After the clock change in Europe tonight, all FOK are now on summer time.

It’s MLB Opening Day and Keith has started early with his predictions this year:
Keith was at Spring Training in Arizona and made several interesting observations (and loads of pics
):
- Is Spring Training In Florida Doomed? (Revised)
- Jim Thome And Other Friends
- What I Saw In Arizona. Part One: Billy Hamilton
- What I Saw In Arizona. Part Two: Photo Album
- What I Saw In Arizona. Part Three: The Best New Ballpark
And from the good old days an ESPN snippet of Keith and Dan:
When you hear Keith say “stop” to Dan, he means Dan pretending he tabulated the facts he reads from a fact sheet that was given to him. Dan did that regularly.
Status of WVBR in memory of Keith’s father
Theodore C. Olbermann 1929 – 2010

“My Dad was my biggest booster…He was my inspiration, and will always remain so… He is as much my hero now, as he was when I was five years old.“

As I noted earlier this year, WVBR has named their new bulding after Keith’s father and a friend. Here is a pic of the inside of the Olbermann-Corneliess studios:
